Wisconsin Layout Boat Hunting Lake Michigan
(Late October-Early December)

Open Water Layout Boat Hunting  (1-4 Hunters)

These hunts are geared toward sea ducks and diver ducks and as the name suggests, they take place in open water away from shore. We use the largest and most comfortable single-man layout boats on the market (Waterfowl Works UFO Gen 2) to provide you with the safest, and most comfortable layout hunting experience possible! The low profile design and comfortable concealment enable hunters to pick out trophy drakes and make clean kills at close range!

Decoys are placed in relation to the position of the layout craft and once birds are dropped, they are retrieved using a “tender boat”.  All craft are outfitted with 2-way radios for constant contact between the layout craft and tender boat. The tender boat is equipped with a USCG approved, waterproof ship-to-shore marine radio for safety. Layout hunting for fast flying divers and sea ducks is a very unique approach to waterfowl hunting that should be on every serious Waterfowler’s bucket list! I run trips 7 days a week and I personally scout birds before EVERY trip. 100% success rate, 10 years and counting.

Items to bring:  Valid Wisconsin Hunting License, Wisconsin State Waterfowl Stamp, Federal Waterfowl Stamp, shotgun with a maximum capacity of 3 Shells, insulated waders or water-resistant winter bibs, weather appropriate clothing, 2 boxes of 3″ #2 or #3 non-toxic shot per person per day, modified or full choke ONLY, face mask, hearing protection, sunglasses, food, drinks

Northern Wisconsin Duck Hunting
(Late September - Mid October)

Northern Wisconsin Hunts (1-3 Hunters)

Our Northern Wisconsin waterfowl hunts are a taste of duck hunting in its purest form! Scenic, remote locations and access by canoe or boat provide hunters with a high quality, “back to basics” type hunt in the midst of a gorgeous autumn setting! Expert calling and scouting for EVERY trip ensure that you will be on the best hunt available. Fresh birds arrive in Northern WI on a daily basis during the migration. Mixed bags of 3 to 4+ species are common with wood ducks, mallards, gadwall, wigeon, black ducks, ringnecks, hooded mergansers, and teal being the most common. These hunts are also an excellent opportunity to introduce younger generations or novice hunters to the sport of waterfowling and are a great break from the crowds of popular public marshes. Be sure to ask about Cast & Blast trips which allow you to hunt ducks in the morning and fish for musky for the remainder of the day.

Items to bring: Valid Wisconsin Small Game License, Wisconsin State Waterfowl Stamp, Federal Waterfowl Stamp, shotgun with a maximum capacity of 3 Shell, chest waders, weather appropriate clothing, 2 boxes of 3″ #2 or #3 non-toxic shot per person per day, face mask, hearing protection, sunglasses, food, drinks

Musky Fishing
(Late May - Mid October)

Northern Wisconsin Musky Trips (1-3 Anglers)

Our Northern Wisconsin musky fishing trips are second to none! I pride myself on providing my clients with a safe, enjoyable and successful outing in a positive atmosphere using only top quality gear (provided) from Kraemer Custom Rods and Abu Garcia. Questions are always welcome, and I am happy to show and share my secrets on the “wheres” and “hows” of consistently locating and catching northern Wisconsin muskies!

During the months of May-October, Capt Jeff Van Remortel puts more muskies in the boat than ANY guide in the area if not all of Wisconsin. From Opening Day of 2012 through Oct 14, 2019, I have handled 1056 Northern Wisconsin Muskies in my boat and maintained an average of 1.1 muskies per day with an average length of 37″ over that same time frame. Over 100 of them have been “first muskies” for customers (22 in 2019 Season) and many more have been “personal bests” for customers. Over 99% of our catches have come casting (no trolling) and we boat several fish in the 48″+ class each Season.

Northern Wisconsin Walleye & Multi Species Fishing

Northern Wisconsin Walleye/Multi-species Fishing Trips (1-4 Anglers)

Our Northern Wisconsin Walleye fishing trips take place in Vilas, Oneida, Iron and Price Counties.  Full day or half day trips (morning and evening) are available to target Walleye, Bass, Pike or Panfish. The fishing for all of these species is good throughout the year, however, the months of May and June provide some truly outstanding opportunities. All gear is provided featuring top quality rods, reels and baits though you are welcome to bring your own.

Limits of Walleye are taken on most trips with plenty of additional action to keep your rod tips bent!  Average fish size is between 14″ and 18″ and fish in the 20″+ class are taken on nearly every trip. Trips focused on Trophy Walleye are also offered. We catch and release many fish in the 28″+ size class during both the open water and ice fishing Seasons. We practice selective harvest on all species, and all unharmed walleyes over 24″ are released.

Smallmouth Bass, Largemouth Bass and Pike trips are very successful and range from 15-20+ fish days to 50-60+ fish per outing! Northern Wisconsin provides an excellent opportunity for Trophy Smallmouth (20″+)  and the vast majority of our lakes see minimal targeted pressure for most of the year.
